Lesley Beasley is an Australian writer of both fiction and nonfiction.
Her short stories and/or poetry have appeared in the Australian magazines Westerly, Redoubt, Muse and Poetrix. She has reviewed books for The Canberra Times, The Age and Australian Book Review.
Prizes and awards include the ACT Book Reviewer of the Year, the University of Canberra Award for Excellence in Freelance Writing, the Brian Elliott Prize for Australian Literary Studies at the University of Adelaide, and the Eve Langley Short Story Competition.
She is currently working on both a history and a novel set in 1850s Australia. In 2007 the history was short-listed for the Varuna Awards for Manuscript Development. In 2008 the novel was shortlisted for the Unpublished Manuscript Award in the South Australian Festival Awards for Literature.
Lesley has an MA in Creative Writing and has recently embarked on a Ph D.
